City Council Authorizes Agreement to Advance Inner Harbor Desalination Project

Memorandum of Understanding with Corpus Christi Desal Partners Enables Development of Detailed Proposals for Water Treatment Campus

Corpus Christi, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council authorized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Corpus Christi Desal Partners (CCDP) to advance the Inner Harbor Desalination Project. This marks a step forward in diversifying our water supply portfolio while securing a reliable mid-term water supply for the City of Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend region.

The MOU commits CCDP to preparing multiple options with price certainty for the design and construction of the Inner Harbor Water Treatment Campus.

This partnership brings together a consortium of local, national, and international companies, including Acciona, MasTec, Reytec, and Ardurra, which will work together to develop detailed options for City Council consideration.

Under the agreement, CCDP will utilize existing design data from Kiewit to develop delivery objectives for both the design and construction phases of the project. This approach enables the City to assess specific options and make informed decisions about the scope and scale of the facility, while minimizing financial risk during the planning phase.

CCDP is expected to present its proposals to the City Council for consideration between January 2026 and February 2026. A design build contract would then potentially be brought to Council for consideration between March and April 2026.
