The Intergovernmental Relations Department monitors state and federal governmental activities. The department develops programs approved by City Council. Through coordination with City departments, staff performs several intergovernmental relations functions including:

• Informing City Council on developments in the Texas Legislature and the U.S. Congress.

• Building and maintaining relationships between the City of Corpus Christi and elected officials.  

• Leading the lobbying efforts in the Texas Legislature and the United States Congress.

• Coordinating with City departments to develop legislative proposals.  

• Promoting regional cooperation on issues impacting local governments throughout the Coastal Bend area.  

• Work with the City departments on matters before state and federal agencies.  

• Managing the City's federal and state consultants.

• Serve as liaison to local military installations and develop grant applications for military infrastructure.
