After spending several years as an Infrastructure Development Manager in the private sector, Bill Mahaffey became a vital member of the Corpus Christi community when he joined the CC Gas in 2009, as Operations Superintendent. Since then, he has worked his way up the ranks, becoming Assistant Director of Gas Operations in 2013, the Assistant Director of Maintenance of Lines in 2015, and finally the Director of Gas Operations in 2016.

Mr. Mahaffey earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, in 2003. During his tenure in the private sector, he managed several high-end residential resort communities and won the distinction of being selected as the builder of the HGTV Dream Home in 2005.

Throughout his time with the City of Corpus Christi, Mr. Mahaffey has been at the forefront of various utility infrastructure capital improvement projects. He has led a team that has implemented key programs and plans which include the Utilities design division, Maintenance of line in-house construction division, Utility line location division, Utilities Dispatch, Gas Distribution Integrity Management Program, Gas Public Awareness Program, and Risk-based priority replacement programs. He holds numerous licenses and certifications such as those from the Railroad Commission of Texas, FEMA Emergency Management Institute, and Natural Gas Vehicle Institute.

With over 20 years of experience in construction and utility, Mr. Mahaffey’s commitment is focused on not only enhancing safety and improving service but also making it affordable for the residents of Corpus Christi.
