Economic Development
Established in October 2022, the Office of Economic Development was created to serve as a one-stop resource for investors, entrepreneurs, and business owners seeking to start, expand, or relocate businesses within the City of Corpus Christi.
In October 2026, the Office of Economic Development merged with the Planning and Community Development Department to form the Planning & Economic Development Department, aligning the City’s planning, redevelopment, economic growth, and community investment efforts under one unified department.
Today, the Planning & Economic Development Department oversees a broad range of programs and initiatives that support Corpus Christi’s long-term growth and quality of life, including economic development incentives, small business support, infrastructure and redevelopment projects, tourism initiatives, management of SEA District facilities, parking enforcement operations, administration of Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) programs, and administration of the Type A Corpus Christi Business and Job Development Corporation and Type B Corpus Christi B Corporation. Working collaboratively with regional and community partners, the department promotes strategic investment, sustainable development, and a business-friendly environment throughout the city.
