Street Closures and Traffic Impacts - April 17, 2026

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—Below are street closures along major City streets that impact motorists and pedestrians. These closures may be due to construction, special event activity, or maintenance. All closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency work, or other circumstances.

Work zone safety is a priority. Motorists are advised to slow down, follow posted speed limits, pay attention, watch out for workers, obey signs and flaggers, and allow additional travel time for delays.

 

CITY STREET RECONSTRUCTION OR MAINTENANCE PROJECTS


Bonner Drive – Everhart Road to Flynn Parkway

Road reconstruction work on Bonner Drive has begun with new asphalt pavement, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and streetlight improvements. The project includes ADA-compliant curb ramps, related signage, and pavement markings, as well as related utility and drainage improvements.

 

Calallen Drive—Redbird Lane

Calallen Drive at Redbird Lane will be reduced to one lane. Motorists will not be permitted to turn left from Redbird Lane onto Calallen Drive. However, right turns onto Calallen Drive from Redbird Lane will still be allowed.

 

Castenon -- Trojan Drive to Delgado Street

Castenon Street from Trojan Drive to Delgado Street will close as roadway reconstruction begins. The work will be done in three phases: In phase 1, the roadway will close from the northern Moody High School driveway on Castenon Street to Delgado Street. In phase 2, the northbound lane of Castenon Street will close from Trojan Drive to the school driveway, allowing only southbound one-way traffic. In phase 3, the southbound lane will close in that section, leaving only northbound traffic.

 

Oso Parkway – Bar-Le-Doc Drive 

City Storm Water Maintenance crews will replace the drainage infrastructure underneath Oso Parkway's drainage crossing. City crews will set up a temporary full street closure of Oso Parkway to perform maintenance repairs. Message boards and construction signage will guide motorists around the closure. Residential access will not be affected by the temporary street closure.

 

McArdle Road -- Holmes Road to Shopping Way

Ongoing road work on McArdle Road will require a closure of the westbound lane between Shopping Way and Holmes Road beginning Monday, April 6. Two-way travel will be allowed on the remaining lanes, and businesses and neighborhoods will remain accessible during construction.

 

Megal Drive – Everhart Road and Thundersee Drive

Construction crews will be working in the 4700 block of Megal Drive near Everhart Road. A small section of Megal Drive near Thundersee Drive will be closed.

 

Norton Street – Cambridge Drive to Kostoryz Road

Traffic will be one-way westbound on Norton Street between Cambridge Drive and Kostoryz Road.

 

Poth Lane -- Gibson Street to Buddy Lawrence Drive

Beginning on Monday, February 2, and continuing for two months, Poth Lane will be closed to all traffic between Gibson Street and Buddy Lawrence Drive

 

Washington Coles Park -- Road Closures

The following intersections will be closed during the construction period: Winnebago Street and N. Alameda Street, Winnebago Street and Sam Rankin Street, Sam Rankin Street and Lake Street, Sam Rankin Street and Lobo Street.

 

Timbergate Drive – South Staples Street to Snowgoose Road

Timbergate Drive between South Staples Street and Snowgoose Road will be one-way westbound. Roadway closures are in effect for the eastbound lanes of Timbergate Drive between Staples and Snowgoose Road.

 

Townsend Street – Gollihar Road to Horne Road

Townsend Street, between Gollihar Road and Horne Road, will be closed to through traffic, but residents will have access to their driveways. Construction is scheduled to continue through September. 

 

Yorktown Boulevard – Rodd Field Road to Oso Creek Mud Bridge

Construction is underway on the Yorktown Boulevard project. The westbound lanes of Yorktown Boulevard will be closed from Geiger Road to the Oso Creek Mud Bridge. Traffic will be redirected to the eastbound lanes, allowing two-way traffic to flow.

 

CITY PERMITTED CLOSURES


Lomax Street – North Mesquite Street to North Chaparral Street

A contractor will have two 20-cubic-yard dumpsters on site for approximately 30 days. TAMUCC is renovating its first floor at Lomax Street & Chapparal Street. It requires the equipment to remove trash and debris accordingly.

 

John Sartain Street – North Chaparral Street to North Water Street
N. Water Street – Lomax Street to John Sartain Street
N. Chaparral Street – Lomax Street to John Sartain Street

A contractor will renovate the exterior fascia of the Education Service Center building in the 300 block of John Sartain Street, downtown Corpus Christi.  The contractor will temporarily occupy the parking spaces along N. Water Street, John Sartain Street, and N. Chaparral Street, adjacent to the building. Warning signs will advise motorists and pedestrians in advance regarding the construction. Construction at this location is expected to last several weeks.
