Street Closures and Traffic Impacts - September 11, 2026
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—Below are street closures along major City streets that impact motorists and pedestrians. These closures may be due to construction, special event activity, or maintenance. All closures are subject to change due to weather, emergency work, or other circumstances.
Work zone safety is a priority. Motorists are advised to slow down, follow posted speed limits, pay attention, watch out for workers, obey signs and flaggers, and allow additional travel time for delays.
CITY STREET RECONSTRUCTION OR MAINTENANCE PROJECTS
Bonner Drive – Everhart Road to Flynn Parkway
Road reconstruction work on Bonner Drive has begun with new asphalt pavement, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and streetlight improvements. The project includes ADA-compliant curb ramps, related signage, and pavement markings, as well as related utility and drainage improvements.
Carroll Lane - SPID to Holly Road
One-way traffic from Holly Road to SPID on Carroll Lane. Neighborhoods and businesses will remain accessible during construction.
Flour Bluff Drive -- Don Patricio Road to Compton Road
A section of Flour Bluff Drive from Don Patricio Road to Compton Road will be restricted to one lane of travel for approximately three weeks.
Holly Road -- Rodd Field Road
A section of Holly Road between Toben Drive and Rodd Field Road will be closed through Friday, October 16.
Howard Street - Ben Garza Gym
Barricades have been installed at the end of Howard Street, near Ben Garza Gym at 1815 Howard Street, which will be temporarily closed to the public.
Starlite Lane — Sunny Drive to Kingwood Drive
Starlite Lane will be closed from Sunny Drive through Kingwood Drive. Neighborhoods and businesses will remain accessible during construction. This section will remain closed through January.
Surfside Boulevard -- at Gulfspray Avenue
The intersection of Surfside Boulevard at Gulfspray Avenue will be fully closed to traffic.
Up River Road -- at Poth Lane
The northbound section of Up River Road will be closed at Poth Lane for water line installation to improve local infrastructure and enhance water service reliability.
Washington Coles Park -- Road Closures
The following intersections will be closed during the construction period: Winnebago Street and N. Alameda Street, Winnebago Street and Sam Rankin Street, Sam Rankin Street and Lake Street, Sam Rankin Street and Lobo Street.
Yorktown Boulevard – Rodd Field Road to Oso Creek Mud Bridge
Construction is underway on the Yorktown Boulevard project. The eastbound lanes of Yorktown Boulevard will be closed from Rodd Field Road to the Oso Creek Mud Bridge. Traffic will be redirected to the westbound lanes, allowing two-way traffic to flow.
CITY PERMITTED CLOSURES
Lomax Street – North Mesquite Street to North Chaparral Street
A contractor will have two 20-cubic-yard dumpsters on site for approximately 30 days. TAMUCC is renovating its first floor at Lomax Street & Chaparral Street. The project requires equipment to remove trash and debris.
John Sartain Street – North Chaparral Street to North Water Street
N. Water Street – Lomax Street to John Sartain Street
N. Chaparral Street – Lomax Street to John Sartain Street
A contractor will renovate the exterior fascia of the Education Service Center building in the 300 block of John Sartain Street, downtown Corpus Christi. The contractor will temporarily occupy the parking spaces along N. Water Street, John Sartain Street, and N. Chaparral Street, adjacent to the building. Warning signs will advise motorists and pedestrians in advance regarding the construction. Construction at this location is expected to last several weeks.
Rancho Vista Blvd and surrounding area – ADB – fiber installation
An AT&T contractor will perform boring and fiber activities within City ROW on Clearbrook Drive and the surrounding area. Affected streets are as follows: Cattleman Drive, Brown Drive, High Gun Drive, Lands End Drive, Nuss Drive, Nuss Alley, Vanessa Aly, Vanessa Drive, Bryson Way, Stampede Drive, Elizondo Drive, Idel Hour Drive, Dr Hector P. Garcia Drive, Vishal Drive, Todd Hunter Drive, Ames Street, Bayley Lane, 7722 Griffen DR.
1313 Port Ave and surrounding area – ADB – fiber installation
An AT&T contractor will perform boring and fiber activities within City ROW on Morgan Ave, S Port Ave, Baldwin Blvd, Rosewood St, Espinosa St, Sabinas St, Verbena St, Elgin St, Bright St, Reyna St, Agrito St, Osage St, Aztec St.
7722 Griffen Dr, Corpus Christi, TX and surrounding area – ADB – fiber installation
An AT&T contractor will perform boring and fiber activities within City ROW 7722 Griffen Dr., Yorktown, Rodd Field Rd., and Geiger Dr.
Allencrest and surrounding area – ADB – fiber installation
A contractor for AT&T will be executing boring and fiber activities within City ROW on Allencrest Dr, Ostinato Dr, Coda Dr, Crescendo Dr, Andante Dr, Forte Dr, Presto Dr, Allegro Dr, Camwood Dr.
Nemo Court & Park Road 22 – Waterline installation
A contractor will be executing temporary road closures and excavation to install a waterline within City ROW on Nemo Court.
1502 Horne Rd. /Fire Station #10 - SANITARY SEWER tie-in at existing manhole.
KOSTORYZ TO SUNNYBROOK RD- 23178 Fire Station #8
Winnebago / Coke Street
A contractor will be excavating on Coke St for utility tie-ins related to improvements to the North Aquatic Center.
Waldron / Caribbean
An AT&T contractor will perform boring and fiber activities within City ROW along Waldron from Claride to Caribbean.
Palmero
Road closure at Palmero St. between S. Alameda & Lawnview
Lomax / John Sartain Sidewalk
A contractor will be working on the exterior fascia of the Education Service Center building in the 300 block of John Sartain Street, downtown Christi. The contractor will temporarily occupy the sidewalk along Chaparral Street, from Lomax to John Sartain adjacent to the building. Warning signs will advise pedestrians in advance regarding the construction.
