Today, the City met with Moody’s Ratings (Moody’s) regarding their Ratings Committee’s review of the City’s General Obligation bonds and Utility System Revenue ratings. During their Rating Committee meeting, Moody’s confirmed the A1 rating for the City’s General Obligation bonds and the A1 rating for the Utility System Revenue bonds.

The City of Corpus Christi’s Management and Budget Department is hosting the second of three Budget Development Meetings, waiting to hear from the public to help shape the city’s upcoming 2027 fiscal year.

Community members can help shape the upcoming City budget at a series of public meetings starting Monday, June 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the Owen R. Hopkins Public Library.

Since 2023, the City has taken proactive steps to manage its finances, implementing over $20 million in structural changes to ensure a balanced budget. The City of Corpus Christi has secured $115 million in funding to support a range of community improvements, including upgrades to public safety services, streets, parks and recreation facilities, and library improvements through the issuance of the General Improvement Bonds, Series 2026 transaction that priced on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

The initial projection identifies a manageable estimated $940,000 gap in revenues to expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins October 1, 2026. This initial forecast is a best practice and a key step in beginning the budget process, setting service delivery expectations for the coming fiscal year.
