City Accepts Donation for New Shade Structure Design at Antonio E. Garcia Park
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council accepted a donation of $11,160 from the Rotary Club of West Corpus Christi. This funding is for the design of a new shade structure for the playscape at Antonio E. Garcia Park, located at 2021 Agnes Street.
The planned shade structure will provide relief from the sun, creating a more comfortable environment for children and families to enjoy the playground. The improvement supports the City’s Parks & Recreation Department’s 10-Year Master Plan to enhance public parks.
Estimated construction costs range from $50,000 to $150,000, depending on the shade structure design and size.
The City plans to pursue additional construction funding through local partnerships and potential federal and state grants, including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.
The design is scheduled for completion by February 2027.
