Corpus Christi Water Provides Update on Tap Water Taste and Odor

Corpus Christi, Texas – Corpus Christi Water (CCW) is providing an update regarding taste and odor concerns raised by some customers about their tap water. The drinking water supplied by CCW continues to comply with all health and safety standards set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

CCW has increased water quality testing throughout the city’s distribution system in response to customer calls. Crews continue to monitor water quality daily by collecting samples across the system. CCW staff is testing for organic compounds in the water supply from both Western Reservoirs and the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant.

Additionally, today CCW staff coordinated with TCEQ staff for further state testing at the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant and throughout the distribution system.

Contributing factors such as low river levels and high temperatures can prolong the time it takes for conditions to improve as water moves through the distribution system.

CCW reminds residents that line flushing to address odor and taste is not recommended while the Mary Rhodes Pipeline is under repair.

The City asks that customers call 3-1-1 to report any water quality concerns. If reporting outside normal business hours, please use the number provided in the automated message.
