Corpus Christi Water Reports Progress on Recent Water Taste and Odor

Corpus Christi, Texas – Corpus Christi Water (CCW) is providing an update regarding the taste and odor concerns recently reported by some customers in their tap water.

To ensure the organic compounds causing the taste and odor issue are cleared from the water system, CCW is taking the following measures:

· Six CCW crews have been deployed across the distribution system to monitor water quality and collect samples

· CCW staff are conducting additional monitoring of the current water supply from the Western Reservoirs at the point of origin

Due to a leak in the Mary Rhodes Pipeline (MRP), CCW is currently drawing additional water from the Western Reservoirs. This operational shift was implemented to enable crews to repair the leak in the MRP.

Most areas are expected to notice improvements in the taste and odor of tap water this week. Some residential areas may take longer to see these changes. Usually, flushing the water through the system helps resolve this issue. However, because repairs to the MRP are still underway, hydrant flushing is not recommended at this time.

CCW continues to monitor water quality at the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant and throughout the system.

CCW asks that customers call 3-1-1 to report any water quality concerns. If reporting occurs outside normal business hours, please use the number provided in the automated message.
