Downtown Street Striping Upgrades to Begin November 9

Traffic striping upgrades throughout downtown Corpus Christi will begin Monday, November 9. The multi-phase project aims to improve road clarity and driver safety. Work will occur in three sequential phases over approximately seven weeks:

1. Water Street (Furman Ave. to I-37): Rolling single-lane closures with two-way traffic open; expected to take two weeks.
2. Mesquite Street (I-37 to John Sartain St.): Intermittent sectional closures; expected to take three weeks.
3. Chaparral Street: Nighttime full closures between John Sartain St. and Peoples St. Remaining sections will feature intermittent lane closures with open two-way traffic. Expected to take two weeks.

Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution in work zones and allow extra travel time.

Safety remains a top priority, and motorists traveling through this area must follow the posted detour signs to navigate the construction zone. Detours will be clearly marked to ensure minimal disruption and maintain traffic flow.
