Filing Period Approaching for Candidate Applications
Period runs from July 20 through August 17
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX— The City Secretary reminds the community that the filing period to apply for candidacy in the upcoming mayoral or council member elections begins on Monday, July 20, at 8:00 a.m. Prospective candidates must submit their applications by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17.
Candidate information, including an application form, candidate qualifications, and the requirements for filing, is contained in the 2026 Candidate Packet on the City Secretary’s webpage or in paper form at the City Secretary’s Office, 1st Floor, City Hall, 1201 Leopard Street. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
As a reminder, the $100 filing fee accompanying a candidate’s application must be remitted in cash, by money order, or by cashier’s check, made payable to “City of Corpus Christi”; personal and business checks are not accepted. Candidates may also submit a petition instead of filing fees, following the instructions in the Candidate Packet.
