Temporary Closure of Beach Walkway at North Beach

Collapsed Sidewalk Due to Erosion

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department has temporarily closed a section of the beachfront walkway located at 2900 N. Shoreline Boulevard, adjacent to the USS Lexington Museum, following a sidewalk collapse.

A preliminary assessment indicates that coastal erosion and water infiltration beneath the walkway compromised the concrete's structural integrity.

City crews have installed temporary fencing around the affected 135-foot stretch to ensure public safety and prevent access. The remainder of the North Beach walkway remains open and safe for public use.

The Corpus Christi Public Works Department is actively evaluating the structural damage to determine long-term repair solutions and a restoration timeline.
