Temporary Closure of Road Near The Water’s Edge

Preventative maintenance work scheduled

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department announces the temporary closure of the limited-use roadway in front of McGee Beach and The Great Lawn at The Water’s Edge, located at 402 S. Shoreline Boulevard. The preventative maintenance work will take place starting Monday, August 17, through Friday, August 21, weather permitting. See the map below.

The project will involve an asphalt overlay extending approximately a quarter-mile along the roadway. This maintenance work will enhance the stability and overall condition of the roadway, addressing safety concerns for the many cyclists, runners, pedestrians, and visitors who regularly utilize this area.

The area will remain open to the public during the maintenance work performed by A. Ortiz Construction & Paving. Crews will work to minimize impacts on visitors and recreational activities.

Safety continues to be our top priority. The public is encouraged to remain alert in the work zone and to observe all posted signage.

McGee Beach and The Great Lawn at The Water’s Edge are among the most heavily utilized recreational areas along the Corpus Christi Bayfront, collectively serving more than one million visitors annually. The area is a popular destination for residents and visitors alike and serves as a hub for outdoor recreation, community gatherings, special events, festivals, and other activities throughout the year.
