Mary Rhodes Pipeline Temporarily Removed from Service for Repairs

Corpus Christi, TX – Corpus Christi Water (CCW) has detected a leak on the Mary Rhodes Pipeline (MRP) near Highways 77 and 239, south of the San Antonio River. The leak is approximately halfway along the 101-mile pipeline, which carries water from Lake Texana to the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant (ONSWTP).

CCW crews and its contractors have been working around the clock to identify the extent of the issue. Progress has been made in dewatering both the project site and the pipeline. Once the excavation surrounding the 64” pipeline is safe to access, crews will determine the extent of the issue and begin repair operations.

While the MRP remains offline for repairs, CCW has increased production from the Nueces Groundwater Wells and water releases from the Wesley Seale Dam to ONSWTP. Increased Nueces River flow and higher water levels will be observed during this period.
