In response to critical drought conditions and an elevated risk of wildfires, Nueces County has issued a 60-day burn ban, effective immediately. 

The City of Corpus Christi is preparing for a large influx of visitors to area beaches during Spring Break 2026. 

A cold front will push through late tonight into Friday morning, dropping temperatures to near freezing Friday night. Strong north winds will create hazardous marine conditions through Saturday. The City has protocols in place to ensure proper and safe City services, such as public safety, roads, water and wastewater, and animal care.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD), alongside the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD), is reminding residents that fireworks are not allowed within Corpus Christi city limits, including all beach areas.

The loud noises and displays of holiday fireworks can be very distressing for pets, leading to significant stress and anxiety. Animals possess acute senses, making them particularly sensitive to loud sounds. This fear may result in destructive behavior, attempts to escape, or even injury.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) is now accepting applications for its 49th Fire Academy. Prospective candidates are invited to attend a series of in-person recruitment open houses throughout November and December.

At today's regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the Council authorized a significant investment in the city's public safety infrastructure.
