Activation of Traffic Signals at Everhart Road and Staples Street

Activation Will Require Temporary Lane Closures

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX— On Wednesday, October 15, the intersection of Everhart Road and Staples Street will receive upgraded traffic signals. This is part of the Everhart Road Bond 2020 project; the City of Corpus Christi was tasked with upgrading four intersections with new traffic signals, aimed at improving safety and traffic flow in the area.

Wednesday’s work will involve removing outdated mast arms and replacing them with new, state-of-the-art mast arms and signal equipment. This enhancement is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and ensure the safety and convenience of all road users.

During the activation process, various lane closures will be in effect throughout the day to ensure the work is performed safely and efficiently. These closures are temporary and will be clearly marked to guide motorists through the intersection.

Additionally, there will be a temporary power loss at the intersection while contractors transfer electrical services to the new signals. Motorists should be prepared for the absence of traffic lights for approximately four hours.

Motorists are advised to anticipate changes in traffic patterns and potential delays while traveling through the area. The Corpus Christi Police Department will be present on-site to guide drivers safely through the work zone and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

All access to businesses and neighborhoods in the area will be maintained, and crews will remain diligent in minimizing disruptions.

These upgrades are part of our commitment to maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure for the safety and benefit of the community.
