Additional Library Card Options for Minors
Corpus Christi Public Libraries Launches Two New Choices Starting June 2
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — Beginning Monday, June 2, Corpus Christi Public Libraries will introduce two new library card options tailored for patrons under 18.
The new options include the Juvenile Card, intended for ages 0-12, and the Teen Card, for ages 13-17. These cards will limit cardholders to checking out materials only from the designated Juvenile and Teen sections. The current youth library card will remain an available option.
The launch of this initiative on June 2 will coincide with the start of the “Color Our World” Summer Reading Program for children and teens, which will run through Sunday, July 27. Participants will receive various incentives, including the Mayor’s Reading Challenge Certificate (for children 12 and under) and prizes funded by community partners and the Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraries.
“The summer presents an excellent opportunity for parents to take their children to the library, promoting reading during the school break while exploring the many free programs and family activities offered at each of our libraries,” said Library Director Laura Garcia. “Our goal has always been to make the library a welcoming space where children can develop a lifelong love for reading and learning.”
All three library card options for minors will be available at all six library branches.
