City and FBISD Will Host Joint Town Hall Meeting for Interested Residents to Address Harte Library Operating Hours Adjustment

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The City of Corpus Christi and Flour Bluff Independent School District (FBISD) will host a Joint Town Hall meeting to engage with residents about the recent change in operating hours at the Janet F. Harte Public Library, located at Flour Bluff High School. 

Interested residents are invited to the Harte Library at 2629 Waldron Road on Monday, August 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The updated operating hours, which took effect on August 11, are necessary to comply with safety requirements outlined under Texas Education Code 61.1031. The law mandates that all school districts secure building entry points and restrict public access during instructional hours.

In 1998, the City and FBISD entered into an interlocal agreement to establish and jointly operate a branch library on school district property. Located on the Flour Bluff High School campus, the Harte Library serves FBISD students and city patrons in the same facility.

During the meeting, City Councilwoman Kaylynn Paxson (Council District 4) will join City Manager Peter Zanoni and Flour Bluff Independent School District Superintendent Chris Steinbruck to obtain input and address the community's questions.
