City Celebrates Start of Construction for Harbor Bridge Parks Project

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—The City of Corpus Christi is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the construction of the Harbor Bridge Parks Project. The project includes significant upgrades to several key parks and trails in the area surrounding the new Harbor Bridge, including:

  • Formerly Washington Elementary School Site (Washington Coles Park): Plans include an amphitheater with seating, a pavilion, vendor space, lighting improvements, and approximately 200 parking spaces
  • T.C. Ayers Park: Upgrades will feature a softball field, loop trail, and sidewalks
  • Dr. H.J. Williams Memorial Park (Hillcrest Park): Enhancements include resurfacing basketball courts, playground installations, picnic areas, and a community garden
  • Ben Garza Park: Improvements feature a park entry plaza, playground, and picnic areas
  • Hike and Bike Trail Connections: Improvements include a five-foot sidewalk for enhanced connection to key park locations
  • North Beach Trailhead: Plans include a new trailhead for enhanced access
