City Council Amends Project Financing Zone for Convention Center Complex

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At today’s regular scheduled City Council meeting, the Council amended the City’s Project Financing Zone No. 1 to support qualified initiatives associated with the Convention Center Complex.

This amendment refines the boundaries of Project Financing Zone Number One to align more closely with the Convention Center Complex area, removing offshore portions that do not generate revenue. This adjustment ensures the zone reflects areas that provide a direct financial benefit to the city.

Incremental state hotel-associated tax revenues generated within the revised zone will be deposited into a designated trust account for a 30-year term and used to support eligible projects at the Hilliard Center, including the Arena, Convention Center, and Selena Auditorium.

This action ensures tourism-generated revenues continue to be reinvested in projects that support the City’s convention, tourism, and economic development efforts.
