City Council Approves Construction Contract for Coopers Boaters Facility and L-Head Parking Lot Resurface

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the City Council awarded a $6.6 million construction contract to B. E. Beecroft Company, Inc., based in Corpus Christi, for the Coopers Boaters Facility and L-Head Parking Lot Resurfacing project.

The 3,500-square-foot two-story facility will include public restrooms, shower and restroom facilities for tenants, a laundry room with washers and dryers, and a meeting room and storage areas. A portion of the L-head parking lot will be resurfaced and striped, and upgraded with new curbs and gutters, and limited landscaping.

“When completed, the new, fully equipped boaters’ facility at the Coopers L-Head will offer exciting new features for marina tenants and visiting boaters,” said Jonathon Atwood, Marina Manager.

“The new boaters’ facility is part of a master plan to elevate our city’s prominent asset into a Coastal Bend premier marina, featuring new state-of-the-art floating piers, a sustainable boardwalk creating a world-class experience for our marina tenants, visiting boaters, and everyone visiting our beautiful city’s bayfront," said Robert Dodd, Director of Parks and Recreation.

Funding for the project is from the Type A Sales Tax. Construction is scheduled to begin this spring and is expected to be completed by February 2027.
