City Expands Harte Library Operating Hours Following Public Feedback

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — In response to feedback gathered from community residents at a recent Joint Town Hall meeting, the City of Corpus Christi, in partnership with the Flour Bluff Independent School District (FBISD), is expanding operating hours at the Janet F. Harte Library. These changes will take effect on Monday, September 15. 

The Harte Library is located on the Flour Bluff High School campus at 2629 Waldron Road. 

On August 25, the City and the FBISD held a Joint Town Hall meeting at the Harte Library to gather input from residents about the updated operating hours, which began on August 11, 2025. These changes were necessary for FBISD to comply with Texas Education Code § 61.103, which requires the district to secure campus entry points and limit public access during school hours.

Residents' primary input from the Joint Town Hall included the need for overall increased operating hours during weekdays, accessibility to curbside services, and access for homeschool instruction. 

The City and FBISD collaborated to address these concerns by implementing the following:

• The Harte Library's operating hours will increase from 28 to 40 weekly. This change includes new morning public access hours on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Additionally, the library will now be open on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 
• Curbside services will be available Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Patrons can reserve materials online or by phone and pick them up without leaving their vehicles. To schedule a curbside pickup, call 361-826 2310.
• Flour Bluff ISD will offer expanded Home School Hours on Mondays and Wednesdays to homeschoolers living in the FBISD attendance zone. Families interested in this service may contact the Flour Bluff High School Librarian at 361-694-9161 for further information.
