City of Corpus Christi Launches Outreach and Communication Campaign for Water Projects
Initiative to Promote Regional Collaboration and Water Security Success
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The City of Corpus Christi today announced the launch of an Outreach and Communication Campaign for Water Projects, a multi-platform initiative designed to celebrate regional collaboration, keep residents informed about water infrastructure progress, and promote the City’s water security strategy.
The campaign represents a commitment to transparency, community engagement, and regional partnership as Corpus Christi advances $171 million in strategic water projects.
The communication campaign will utilize multiple platforms to reach residents and regional partners. It includes outreach to neighboring counties and cities to strengthen partnerships and explore collaborative water supply solutions.
“As we move forward with these water projects, it’s essential that we keep our community informed and engaged every step of the way,” said Peter Zanoni, Corpus Christi City Manager. “But equally important is our commitment to working hand-in-hand with our neighboring communities.”
The outreach and communications strategy will include collaborative meetings with counties, cities, and stakeholders across the region, as well as media releases and interviews, public service announcements, and social media that promote water security achievements and regional collaboration.
Regular progress reports will keep residents informed about major water initiatives, including the Evangeline Groundwater Project, Harbor Island Desalination reservation, Nueces groundwater wells, and wastewater reuse programs.
The campaign comes as Corpus Christi advances multiple water security initiatives approved by the City Council. The $169 million Evangeline Groundwater Project will secure groundwater rights to 22,789 acres in San Patricio County, delivering 24 million gallons per day (MGD) by late 2026.
The City has also established a $2.7 million partnership with the Nueces River Authority to reserve up to 50 MGD from the proposed Harbor Island Seawater Desalination Plant.
