City Secures Three-Year Agreement to Maintain Critical Regional Public Safety Radio Network
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council authorized a three-year Radio Network Support & Maintenance Service Agreement with Dailey and Wells Communications, Inc.
This agreement ensures the long-term reliability of the Coastal Bend Regional Interoperability Network (CBRIN), the region’s primary communication lifeline for first responders.
The agreement, totaling $ 1.4 million, provides software support, system monitoring, and technical maintenance.
For Fiscal Year 2026, $236,123 has been allocated from the General Fund to cover the initial six months of service.
Since 2021, the project has modernized the region’s infrastructure by:
- Expanding system capacity and adding new radio sites.
- Improving coverage, connectivity, and data security.
- Ensuring redundancy to maintain communications during hurricanes and high-risk events.
CBRIN serves as the backbone for coordinated emergency response across several jurisdictions. Key participants relying on this network include:
- Municipalities & Counties: Corpus Christi, Kingsville, Port Aransas, Portland, Nueces County, and San Patricio County.
- Education & Transit: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Port of Corpus Christi PD, and the Corpus Christi, Calallen, Flour Bluff, and Robstown Independent School Districts.
- State & Federal Partners: TxDOT, Homeland Security, and the FBI.
Supporting 4,800 radios, the infrastructure requires specialized, ongoing maintenance that exceeds previous service standards.
The new agreement provides regular inspections, firmware upgrades, and 24/7 support to prevent service interruptions.
By securing this contract, the City is proactively protecting its investment and ensuring that the men and women on the front lines have a dependable communication system when it matters most.
