City Statement: Corpus Christi Water Encourages Registration of Water Wells
The City of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Aquifer Storage and Recovery District (CCASRD) are reminding residents and businesses within their jurisdiction to comply with water well registration requirements to ensure responsible groundwater usage.
CCASRD, which includes most of the Corpus Christi’s city limits, is the governing authority for water well oversight. All non-exempt wells, such as those used for commercial purposes or large-scale agriculture, must be permitted through CCASRD. Exempt wells, including residential wells that will be used solely for domestic use, such as irrigation of landscaped areas or for providing water to livestock or poultry, must be registered with the CCARSD.
All well registration forms are available online at https://bit.ly/4j4jIpO. There is no cost to register a well. Completed applications should be sent to CCASRCD@cctexas.com.
CCASRD’s purpose is to manage and protect groundwater resources. As per the rules and regulations, all wells must be registered and permitted year-round regardless of drought conditions.
However, during drought stages, well-owners will receive a certificate from the City after successful registration, which must be visibly posted near the well for code enforcement inspections.
CCASRD encourages all homeowners and commercial users to verify the status of their wells and ensure compliance, especially during periods of drought when responsible water use is crucial.
