Completion of Alameda Street Construction from Louisiana Avenue to Texan Trail

Significant Infrastructure Improvement Celebrated in District 2

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - City officials are pleased to announce the completion of the Alameda Street Construction Project, which revamped one of the busiest thoroughfares in Council District 2. Stretching from Louisiana Avenue to Texan Trail, this significant infrastructure improvement is now open to the public, promising enhanced safety and efficiency for all motorists.

The extensive project involved the rehabilitation of the existing four-lane roadway, which now boasts a continuous center turn lane. The improvements include new concrete pavement, curb and gutter enhancements, minor sidewalk repairs, and the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps. These upgrades ensure accessibility and convenience for pedestrians and motorists alike.

In addition to roadway improvements, new signage and pavement markings have been added to enhance navigation and safety. The project also saw the installation of upgraded and additional street illumination, greatly improving night-time visibility and overall security for the community.

To ensure the durability and longevity of the roadway, Reytec Construction Resources utilized Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement. This advanced construction technique incorporates steel reinforcement, significantly improving durability and reducing the need for future maintenance. The use of this paving technique underscores a commitment to sustainable and long-lasting infrastructure.

Funding for the project came from Bond 2020.

The City wished to thank the residents and businesses in District 2 for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period.  Alameda Street now stands as a testament to what can be achieved through community collaboration and strategic investment.
