Corpus Christi Launches Water Utility Assistance Program for City Residents at One Water Summit
Water Leaders Unite to Discuss Sustainable Future Water Supplies
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—The first-ever One Water Summit will bring together nearly 350 water and wastewater professionals at the American Bank Center on May 22-23. This event will showcase innovation across the water and wastewater sectors while fostering collaboration between leaders in the field.
While not a public event, this professional conference is a collaborative effort between Corpus Christi Water (CCW), Texas American Water Works Association (AWWA), and Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT). It is designed specifically for practitioners in the water and wastewater sectors. The City is proud to serve as a co-host for this important gathering.
“This summit represents a unique opportunity to unite water and wastewater professionals in pursuing innovative solutions,” said Drew Molly, CCW Chief Operating Officer. “By bringing together diverse expertise, we’re creating a platform for exchanging ideas and best practices that will shape the future of water management.”
The One Water Summit will feature expert panels on crucial topics, including: navigating consent decrees, water reuse innovation, drought response strategies, produced water management, developing water alliances, desalination, and more.
These diverse sessions will showcase approaches from across the water and wastewater sectors. Panelists will include water professionals, legal experts, state representatives, engineers, leadership from multiple Texas cities, and other stakeholders.
An added benefit for attendees is the opportunity for engineers and operators to earn up to 10 credit hours from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) toward their professional license.
Funded entirely through sponsorships, all proceeds from the event will benefit Mission 911, a local organization that provides utility assistance to Corpus Christi residents. The One Water Summit’s planning committee anticipates this year’s summit will generate enough funding to assist hundreds of local households struggling with utility costs.
“Most importantly, the One Water Summit is about creating a dedicated fund to support our Corpus Christi residents,” said Drew Molly. “No taxpayer dollars are being used to fund this event.”
