Corpus Christi Public Libraries Launches Free Holiday Programs and Family Activities

Six Branches to Host Crafting, Movies, and Festive Celebrations

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — Corpus Christi Public Libraries (CCPL) invites residents to celebrate the magic of the holidays with a variety of free programs across all six library branches. From holiday card making and Christmas movies to joyful story times and festive activities for teens and all ages, the library system offers something for everyone to enjoy this season.

All supplies for each craft are provided, while supplies last. No registration is necessary unless otherwise noted.

The schedule of events, listed below by date, will take place at CCPL branches throughout November and December.

Saturday, November 22

·         Fall Family Craft Fun (all ages)
          Ben F. McDonald Public Library, 4044 Greenwood Drive
         12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Spend a leisurely afternoon making simple crafts that bring joy, ignite creativity, and create lasting memories.

·         Fall Creations (all ages)
          Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Public Library, 5930 Brockhampton Street   
         11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Bring the family for a fun-filled, fall-inspired craft experience.

Monday, November 24

·         Teen Crafting (ages 13-17)
           Anita & W.T. Neyland Public Library, 1230 Carmel Parkway
           3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Teens are encouraged to join in creating a beaded pumpkin, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Tuesday, December 9

·         Christmas Bulb Handmade Gifts (ages 13-17)
          Janet F. Harte Public Library, 2629 Waldron Road
          4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Teens are invited to create an ornament using alcohol inks and canned air.

Wednesday, December 10

·         Christmas Snow Globe (ages 6-10)
          Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Public Library, 5930 Brockhampton Street
          1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Children should bring a favorite front-facing self-portrait, about 1 inch square, to complete the craft. Hot chocolate will be provided.

Friday, December 12

·         Jingle All the Way, A Christmas Storytime (ages 1-5)
          Ben F. McDonald Public Library, 4044 Greenwood Drive
         11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.   

Bring your little one to this holly-jolly celebration, perfect for sharing cheerful holiday stories, songs, and a craft activity. Attendees are welcome to join dressed in their favorite holiday pajamas or sweaters.

Saturday, December 13

·         Jane Austen Ball and Tea Party (ages 18 and up)
          La Retama Central Library, 805 Comanche Street
          7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  

Join the La Retama Central Library and the Coastal Bend Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America to celebrate Jane Austen's 250th birthday with a proper tea and a festive ball. Attendees are invited to come dressed in their finest Regency-era attire for a chance to win a prize.

·         Holiday Party (Family)
          Janet F. Harte Public Library, 2629 Waldron Road
         12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.   

Families are invited to enjoy holiday crafts, cookies, and a visit with Santa.

·         Life-Sized Candy Land (all ages)
          Owen R. Hopkins Public Library, 3202 McKinzie Road
          10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

Navigate through the festive Candy Kingdom! Each group must include at least two people. Available time slots are 10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. Registration opens on Monday, December 8, and is required. Thursday, December 18

·         Family Movie (all ages) – The Polar Express, 2004
          Anita & W.T. Neyland Public Library, 1230 Carmel Parkway
          4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Families are welcome to attend a screening of “The Polar Express.”

·         Family Movie (all ages) - Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, 2018
          Ben F. McDonald Public Library, 4044 Greenwood Drive
          4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  

Watch this family-friendly holiday movie and enjoy popcorn while working on a holiday ornament or a Grinch craft.   

Saturday, December 20

·         Grinchmas (all ages)
          La Retama Central Library, 805 Comanche Street
          3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Grinch-themed crafts and games will be offered at this holiday event.

·         K-POP Holiday Bash (for ages 13-17)
          Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Public Library, 5930 Brockhampton Street
          1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Teens are invited to enjoy a fun afternoon with K-POP spirit, crafts, and challenging trivia to showcase their fandom knowledge and create holiday memories. 

·         Winter Wonderland Extravaganza (all ages)
           Ben F. McDonald Public Library, 4044 Greenwood Drive
          12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Enjoy fun games, crafts, and create beautiful holiday cards to share with loved ones. The atmosphere is enhanced with a cozy cup of hot chocolate, cookies, and joyful holiday music. 

Monday, December 22

·         Snowball Bash (ages 6-12)
          Anita & W.T. Neyland Public Library, 1230 Carmel Parkway
          3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Children can join in a fun indoor “snowball” fight with yarn pom-pom balls.

·         Teen Crafting (ages 13-17)
           Anita & W.T. Neyland Public Library, 1230 Carmel Parkway
           3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Teens are invited to create a variety of holiday-themed knick-knacks. 

Tuesday, December 23

·         Studio Ghibli Ornaments (ages 13-17)
          Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Public Library, 5930 Brockhampton Street
          1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

A screening of “Spirited Away” by Hayao Miyazaki will be held, and teens can craft fun Studio Ghibli-inspired ornaments.
