Council Approves Construction Contract for NAS-Corpus Christi Fence Project

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and Council awarded a $1,022,900 construction contract to Fencing Unlimited, LLC of West Monroe, Louisiana, for a perimeter fencing project at NAS Corpus Christi (NASCC). The contract is funded through the Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant (DEAAG) Program and will enhance security infrastructure at NASCC, located in Council District 4.

The project will replace approximately 13,500 linear feet of deteriorated fencing and one gate. The existing fencing has been compromised by the harsh coastal marine environment and no longer meets the U.S. Department of Defense's standards for force protection. The new fencing will comply with current Antiterrorism and Force Protection standards, ensuring enhanced security and preventing unauthorized entry into protected areas.

The U.S. Department of the Navy will contribute $615,514 toward the project, with an additional $407,385 provided through the  DEAAG Grant. The project will not impact the City’s general fund.

“The successful completion of this project will strengthen NAS-Corpus Christi's defenses and enhance the operational readiness of its missions,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “This partnership among the City, the Department of the Navy, and Fencing Unlimited, LLC reflects a unified dedication to ensuring the safety and security of our nation's military resources.”

Construction is scheduled to begin in October, with expected completion in May 2026.
