Council Approves Contract Amendments for Evangeline Groundwater Program
Amendments Advance Critical Water Supply Project on Accelerated Timeline
Corpus Christi, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council approved Amendment No. 2 to the Master Services Agreement with Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc., and Amendment No.1 to the Construction Manager-At-Risk contract with Garney Companies, Inc. for the Evangeline/San Patricio County Groundwater Program. This approval advances the City’s continued efforts to bring new groundwater supplies online as quickly as possible.
The amendments authorize Pape-Dawson Engineers for construction management and inspection services totaling $13,065,100. The council also approved an amendment to the contract with Garney Companies, Inc. for construction services for $182,239,792.
The Evangeline Groundwater Project is a complex, multi-front construction project comprising 24 wells, approximately 35 miles of pipeline, a 24-million-gallon-per-day high-service pump station, a 3-million-gallon storage tank, and a transmission connection to the Mary Rhodes Pipeline.
The Pape-Dawson amendment expands the firm’s role to include construction-phase services necessary to deliver the Evangeline Wellfield on the accelerated schedule required under the City’s Emergency Declaration.
The Garney amendment establishes the baseline engineering and procurement necessary to advance the project, including construction of 22 new production wells, associated pumping systems, and pipeline infrastructure, and completion of the Mary Rhodes Pipeline Connection.
