Hose Uncoupling Ceremony Marks the Grand Opening of New Fire Station

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—Today, the Corpus Christi Fire Department held a hose uncoupling ceremony to commemorate the completion of Fire Station #3 at 1525 Morgan Avenue. This new station, which replaced the former Station #3, broke ground in October 2023.

The previous Fire Station #3 was constructed in 1954 and has now surpassed its intended life cycle and can no longer accommodate modern, larger firefighting vehicles and equipment.

The new facility was built next to the old station following a land swap agreement with the Ed Rachal Foundation. It is designed to last at least 50 years.

The $12 million fire station was funded through voter-approved bonds, certificates of obligation, and an American Rescue Act grant.

“New Fire Station 3 is a display of the commitment to our firefighters by providing them with a safe and great working environment. Station 3 is a beacon for the community, showcasing the excellent service we provide and will continue to provide to ensure their safety is our priority. Without the support of our citizens, the Mayor and City Council, and City Management, this beautiful firehouse would not be possible,” Fire Chief Brandon Wade said.

• Weight room
• Classroom training/community room
• Notable Addition: The first fire station that includes a decontamination room.

Fire Station #3 is the busiest station in Corpus Christi. In 2022, Fire and EMS Companies from Fire Station #3 responded to 12,592 calls for service, with Medic 3 responding to 5,673 calls, Rescue 3 responding to 3,286, and Engine 3 responding to 3,633 calls.
