Landmark Commission Opens Historic Preservation Award Submissions

Help Honor Local History

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Landmark Commission is now accepting entries for its Annual Historic Preservation Awards, an initiative that honors those who safeguard Corpus Christi's unique heritage. All written nominations must be submitted by April 22.

To celebrate the diverse ways history is kept alive, the commission will grant awards in the following four categories:

  • Buildings & Properties: Eligible structures must be at least 50 years old and demonstrate a commitment to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

  • Architects & Organizations: This category recognizes those who implement innovative preservation techniques or have made a significant, long-term impact on local preservation efforts.

  • History Books: Nominations are open for historical monographs (whether new or old) that effectively document and share the narrative of Corpus Christi.

  • Education: This award honors individuals or groups who excel at teaching the public about local history, community resource conservation, or the general importance of historic preservation.

The Landmark Commission is dedicated to utilizing historical and cultural landmarks to enhance the education, prosperity, and cultural well-being of both residents and visitors.
