City Council Approves Negotiations with Aquatech for Water Sale Agreement at CC Polymers Desalination Plant

Corpus Christi, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council voted to authorize staff to negotiate with Aquatech to develop a Water Sale Agreement for the purchase of potable water produced and treated at the CC Polymers Seawater Desalination Plant. The approved motion instructs staff to negotiate a take-or-pay water supply agreement for presentation to the Council for final approval.

The CC Polymers facility holds intake and discharge permits for seawater desalination issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). In February 2026, Aquatech submitted proposed contract conditions to City Staff for a long-term water sale agreement, outlining terms for a take-or-pay purchase arrangement for potable water from the plant.

City staff will now proceed with negotiations with Aquatech and bring a proposed water supply agreement back to the City Council for review and final approval.
