Record-Breaking Heat Expected This Week
City Public Libraries and Senior Centers Available as Cooling Centers During Normal Business Hours
May 12, 2025
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—The National Weather Service forecasts that early-season heat will impact all of South Texas this week, with record-breaking temperatures. While the hottest day is forecast to be Wednesday, heat indices will be dangerous from Tuesday and continue into at least early next week. Temperatures and heat indices could reach over 100 degrees.
Residents are advised to take precautions when working or spending time outside, as excessive temperatures increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
The City of Corpus Christi encourages residents who need a cool place to visit City Libraries and Senior Centers as a cooling center during their regular operating hours.
