Janet F. Harte Public Library Announces Operating Hours Adjustment to Enhance Student Safety on School Campus
New Schedule Takes Effect on Monday, August 11
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — To enhance student safety and comply with the safety and security requirements established by the Texas Education Code 61.1031, the Flour Bluff Independent School District (FBISD) and the City of Corpus Christi have mutually agreed that the City adjust the operating hours of the Janet F. Harte Library during regular school hours and the summer school session. The Harte Library is located on the Flour Bluff High School campus at 2629 Waldron Road in City Council District 4. It serves FBISD students during school hours and city library patrons as well, in the same location.
The City will implement modifications to the operating schedule for public library use at the Harte Library, effective Monday, August 11, 2025. The weekly hours of operation will be reduced from 44 to 24 hours. There is no change to the schools' operating hours.
The following table outlines the revised City operating hours for the Harte Library.

The established and continued 25-year partnership between the City and FBISD has been mutually beneficial. Both entities are dedicated to enforcing enhanced safety and security protocols. These measures are vital to ensure the safety of students and staff, thereby promoting a secure and conducive learning environment.
