Traffic Control Plan Announced for Nueces Bay Boulevard, Including RTA Bus Stop Closures
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—Starting Monday, August 11, the west side of Nueces Bay Boulevard will be closed from the I-37 frontage road to Leopard Street to allow for three critical water line tie-ins to the existing 16-inch water line. This is part of the city's ongoing infrastructure improvements to enhance water service reliability and efficiency.
During the construction period, two Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) bus stops will be temporarily out of operation:
- Nueces Bay Boulevard and Antelope Street
- Nueces Bay Boulevard and Huisache Street
In the meantime, all bus stops on the east side of Nueces Bay Boulevard will be open, ensuring continued public transportation access for residents and commuters.
After the water line connections are completed, crews will begin the asphalt paving phase, marking the project's final stage. The construction work is expected to cause temporary inconveniences, but it is vital for long-term community benefits.
To maintain public safety, visible directional signs will be on-site to guide motorists and pedestrians along the safest routes. Residents and commuters are urged to follow posted detours and exercise caution when traveling in the area.
City officials appreciate the community's patience and cooperation during these necessary improvements. Updates on the project's progress and any changes to the traffic control plan will be communicated promptly.
A detailed map depicting all closures and construction areas is included below.
