2025 Conquer the Coast Presented by H-E-B

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX— On Saturday, September 20, the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host its annual Conquer the Coast, presented by H-E-B bike ride. The event is scheduled from 6:50 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Whataburger Field, 734 E. Port Avenue.

Cyclists can participate in the 10-mile or 21-mile ride along the shores of Corpus Christi. There is also a 66-mile ride that will provide an experience riding over the new Harbor Bridge, Portland, Aransas Pass, Ingleside, and Port Aransas. Participants on this route will be limited to a 30-minute window to access the Harbor Bridge. All riders will be directed to the 10-mile or 21-mile ride after the 30-minute window has closed.

Lane closures will be implemented to facilitate the route as early as 4:00 a.m. During closure periods, residents should plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra travel time. To facilitate the 66-mile route, the northbound US 181 exit ramp (Beach Avenue exit) and entry ramp (to Portland) will be closed until all participants have cleared North Beach.  Closures impacting North Beach will remain until the last rider exits North Beach.

Traffic impacts are as follows:

·         Port Avenue (from Whataburger Field to Mesquite Street), Mesquite Street (from Power Street to IH37), and Power Street (from Mesquite Street to Shoreline Boulevard) will be closed to facilitate the start of the race. Police officers will be staged at intersections to manage traffic flow.

·         Access to North Beach will be via southbound US 181 from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

·         Shoulder and lane closures will be implemented along JFK Causeway, Park Road 22, SH361, and NAS Drive from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

·         Northbound US 181 - Beach Avenue exit ramp and northbound US 181 entrance ramp from North Beach will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

·         Northbound IH 37 – Access from Downtown (IH37) will be closed, and motorists will be detoured onto Mesquite Street from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

·         Southbound IH 37 – The southbound connector from IH 37 to northbound US 181 will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

·         Shoreline Boulevard – Single-lane closures in the northbound and southbound lanes from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
