Public Health District Launches Free Community Fitness Series to Promote Health and Wellness

Wellness Wednesdays to Offer Yoga, Strength Training, Zumba, and Nutrition Classes

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — Beginning Wednesday, August 13, the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District will host “Wellness Wednesdays,” a weekly community fitness and wellness series held at the Health District auditorium, located at 1702 Horne Road. 

Each Wednesday of the month features a different wellness activity, with classes led by certified instructors and open to all fitness levels:

 

·         First Wednesday: Somos Yoga will provide yoga classes for children aged five and older from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Experience relaxation and enhance flexibility.

 

·         Second Wednesday: VFit Training Center and Kids Get Fit will provide strength training for children aged seven and older from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. These workouts are designed to increase muscle mass and boost metabolism.

 

·         Third Wednesday: Latin Fuego offers Zumba classes for ages 12 and up, from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Dance your way to fitness!

 

·         Fourth Wednesday: Coastal Bend Food Bank offers a nutrition class for all ages from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Participants will learn healthy recipes and gain a better understanding of nutritious foods.

September 24: Nutrition class (6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m)

October 1: Yoga (5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m)

October 8: Strength training (4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m)

October 15: Zumba (5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m)

October 22: Nutrition class (6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m)

November

November 5: Yoga (5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m)

November 12: Strength training (4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m)

November 19: Zumba (5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m)

December

December 3: Yoga (5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m)

December 10: Strength training (4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m)

December 17: Zumba (5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m)
