Reclaimed Water Now Available for Residential Use During Stage 3 Drought Restrictions
Cost-Effective Alternative Helps Conserve City’s Water Supply
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Type I reclaimed water is now available for residential use, expanding the City of Corpus Christi’s reclaimed water filling station at the Oso Wastewater Treatment Plant. This expansion is essential as the City continues to operate under Stage 3 Drought Restrictions.
What is Reclaimed Water?
Reclaimed water is treated wastewater that meets strict quality standards established by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The City has successfully provided Type II reclaimed water to commercial and industrial customers and is now extending Type I reclaimed water services to residential users and suppliers.
Type I Reclaimed Water (Now Available for Residential Use)
Type I reclaimed water undergoes high levels of treatment and can be used for:
- Landscape irrigation
- Garden watering
- Athletic fields
- Public parks
Type II Reclaimed Water (Commercial/Industrial Use)
Type II reclaimed water continues to be available for commercial and industrial customers for uses including:

Safety Information
Reclaimed water is NON-POTABLE. It is NOT for drinking, cooking, bathing, swimming, or human consumption. Type I reclaimed water is safe only for the approved residential uses listed above. All reclaimed water containers must be clearly labeled as non-potable water, and usage must comply with TCEQ regulations. The City maintains strict quality standards for reclaimed water, but it is not treated to drinking water standards.
