Red Flag Warning in Effect Today
Due to Critical Fire Weather Conditions
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – A Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of South Texas (except for the barrier islands) from 7:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are forecasted. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can lead to a higher-than-normal chance of fires.
A cold front passage today will shift winds across the region to be northwesterly, strengthening to around 20 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph.
Along the barrier islands, a Fire Danger Statement has been issued for winds at 10-20 mph.
We ask our community to please take these precautions:
- Avoid Recreational Fires: Refrain from using fire pits, chimineas, or other recreational fire sources. (Note: Corpus Christi is under a burn ban for recreational fires through March 23, 2025)
- Stay Informed: Monitor local advisories and weather updates.
- Report Fire Incidents: Immediately report any unattended fires or hazardous conditions to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office.
- Protect Your Property: Clear dry brush and flammable materials around your home.
