Section of Castenon Street Closed for Paving Work

Beginning Monday, January 19, a section of Castenon Street from Trojan Drive to Delgado Street will close as roadway reconstruction begins.

The work will be done in three phases:

·         In phase 1, the roadway will close from the northern Moody High School driveway on Castenon Street to Delgado Street.

·         In phase 2, the northbound lane of Castenon Street will close from Trojan Drive to the school driveway, allowing only southbound one-way traffic.

·         In phase 3, the southbound lane will close in that section, leaving only northbound traffic.

Access to the school, businesses and neighborhoods will remain available during construction. The project is expected to last approximately one year.

The work is part of a $3.57 million reconstruction that features new asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveways, signage, pavement markings, ADA ramps, and related utility improvements.

This is a vital thoroughfare for students, parents, and staff traveling to Moody High School. This project is funded by Bond 2018 and related utility funds. MAX Underground Construction will be the contractor.

A detailed map is below to represent the road work visually.

Safety remains a top priority, and motorists traveling through this area must follow the posted detour signs to navigate the construction zone. Detours will be clearly marked to ensure minimal disruption and maintain traffic flow.
