Update: Additional Closure at Everhart Road and South Padre Island Drive Intersection
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX—Construction on water line improvements at the South Padre Island Drive and Everhart Road intersection will require the additional closure of the U-turn from SPID Eastbound Frontage Road this Friday and Saturday.
Ongoing construction in the area for water line improvements began on August 25. This eastbound U-turn closure will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6.
Existing closures include:
· Northbound Everhart Road will close between Corona Drive and SPID; traffic will detour on Corona Drive
· No left turn from SPID Eastbound Frontage Road to Northbound Everhart Road
· U-turn from SPID Westbound Frontage Road at Everhart Road is closed
Motorists in the area are advised to plan and allow additional travel time to navigate lane closures. Access to all businesses in the area will remain open during construction. Traffic signs are in place to alert residents of changes to traffic patterns.
Work will be done in three phases, with the estimated completion date of March 2026.
Motorists are advised to avoid the intersection or find alternate routes.
· For southbound travel on Everhart Road, expect congestion at the SPID intersection.
· For travel on the SPID Eastbound Frontage Road, motorists should consider turning on Flynn Parkway or Embassy Drive.
· For travel on the SPID Westbound Frontage Road, expect minor congestion at the approach to Everhart Road.
A detailed map is attached to visually represent the first phase of road work and traffic flow adjustments.
