UPDATE: Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District Adjusts Mosquito Control Spraying Schedule Due to Rain

Mosquito Control Spraying Schedule Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Due to recent rainfall, the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District (CCNCPHD) has adjusted its mosquito control spraying operations for the week of Monday, June 1, to Friday, June 5.

Please note that Routes 6, 21, and 22 were not fully treated on June 2 due to rain. Approximately 95 percent of Route 21 was completed, while about 40 percent of Route 22 and 50 percent of Route 6 were treated.

Weather permitting, the Vector Control team plans to complete the remaining portions of Routes 6, 21, and 22 today, June 3. Additionally, we will proceed with the scheduled treatments for Routes 16, 17, and 28.

Given the recent rainfall, residents should be aware that elevated mosquito activity is expected citywide. Spraying operations will continue across all city zones in the coming weeks as we closely monitor conditions.

The Vector Control Program at CCNCPHD will continue implementing its integrated mosquito management approach, which includes routine surveillance, larvicide treatments, public education, source reduction efforts, and targeted spraying when necessary. This comprehensive strategy is designed to reduce mosquito populations while minimizing environmental impacts and protecting public health.

While the mosquito control products used are approved for public health use, residents are encouraged to take the following precautions during scheduled spraying periods:

Remain indoors during active spraying when possible
• Close windows and doors during treatment hours
• Bring pets indoors or keep them away from spray areas
• Cover outdoor furniture, toys, and pet dishes
• Wash homegrown fruits and vegetables before consumption
• Individuals with respiratory sensitivities should take additional precautions as advised by their healthcare provider

Residents are also encouraged to help reduce mosquito breeding and bites by:

• Removing standing water from containers, gutters, birdbaths, and tires
• Using EPA-approved insect repellent
• Wearing long sleeves and pants during dawn and dusk hours
• Ensuring window and door screens are properly maintained

Spraying may be delayed or rescheduled due to rain, high winds, or other weather conditions.

Please call 3-1-1 to report abandoned property, high grass, or standing water.
