Update: Everhart Road Water Line Improvements Planned at South Padre Island Drive Intersection
Work Scheduled to Start Monday
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Construction on water line improvements at the South Padre Island Drive and Everhart Road intersection is scheduled to start Monday, August 25.
Motorists in the area are advised to plan and allow additional travel time to navigate lane closures. Access to all businesses in the area will remain open throughout the construction period. Traffic signs are in place to alert residents of changes to traffic patterns.
The construction will be carried out in three phases, with an estimated completion date of March 2026.
Beginning Monday, August 25,
· Northbound Everhart Road will close between Corona Drive and SPID, with traffic redirected to Corona Drive
· Left turns from the eastbound SPID frontage road to northbound Everhart Road will not be permitted.
· U-turns will be prohibited from the westbound SPID frontage road at Everhart Road
This work is part of a $29.3 million road reconstruction project of Everhart Road extending from South Padre Island Drive to Alameda Street. The upcoming work includes $3.4 million allocated for replacing aging infrastructure and connecting upgraded water lines to enhance the water system's efficiency.
Motorists are advised to avoid the intersection or find alternate routes.
· For southbound travel on Everhart Road, expect congestion at the SPID intersection.
· For those using the SPID eastbound frontage road, consider turning onto Flynn Parkway or Embassy Drive.
· Expect minor congestion when traveling on the SPID westbound frontage road as you approach Everhart Road.
A detailed map is attached illustrating the first phase of roadwork and traffic flow changes.
