This Valentine’s Day, consider welcoming a new companion during the "Fur-ever Valentine" promotion. On Friday, February 13, and Saturday, February 14, Corpus Christi Animal Care Services (CCACS) offers a reduced adoption fee of $14 for dogs or cats. 

A cold front will push through late tonight into Friday morning, dropping temperatures to near freezing Friday night. Strong north winds will create hazardous marine conditions through Saturday. The City has protocols in place to ensure proper and safe City services, such as public safety, roads, water and wastewater, and animal care. 

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch for the area from Saturday evening through Monday morning with temperatures in the 20s to 30s and wind chill values in the 10s to 20s. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.

A strong cold will move into the area this weekend.  The National Weather Service is forecasting the coldest temperatures of the season, with lows below 40 degrees. Wind chills late Saturday night into Sunday morning will make it feel even colder, dropping the feels-like temperature to approximately 32 degrees. This should continue for four hours.

The loud noises and displays of holiday fireworks can be very distressing for pets, leading to significant stress and anxiety. Animals possess acute senses, making them particularly sensitive to loud sounds. This fear may result in destructive behavior, attempts to escape, or even injury.

In observance of the holiday season, all City of Corpus Christi non-essential offices will be closed during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Most offices will be closed beginning Thursday, December 25, 2025, and reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services (CCACS) is taking part in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters™ - Holiday Hope waived-fee adoption event from December 1 through December 15.

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services (CCACS) deeply cares for the animals in its shelter and understands the challenges many face in finding a loving pet. To help our furry friends find their forever homes, we are waiving all adoption fees for dogs and cats through the end of November.

Corpus Christi Animal Care Services (CCACS) will host the "Wizard of Paws" adoption event on Saturday, October 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 2626 Holly Road.
