A cold front will push through late tonight into Friday morning, dropping temperatures to near freezing Friday night. Strong north winds will create hazardous marine conditions through Saturday. The City has protocols in place to ensure proper and safe City services, such as public safety, roads, water and wastewater, and animal care. 

The National Weather Service forecasts that frigid air will move into the area Saturday night and Sunday behind a cold front. Low temperatures will drop into the 20s for much of the region.

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch for the area from Saturday evening through Monday morning with temperatures in the 20s to 30s and wind chill values in the 10s to 20s. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.

A strong cold will move into the area this weekend.  The National Weather Service is forecasting the coldest temperatures of the season, with lows below 40 degrees. Wind chills late Saturday night into Sunday morning will make it feel even colder, dropping the feels-like temperature to approximately 32 degrees. This should continue for four hours.

The City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), in coordination with the National Weather Service, is watching an area of thunderstorms in the southern Bay of Campeche, which has the potential to develop into a Tropical Depression or a weak Tropical Storm before moving inland near the southern Coastal Bend Friday evening.

The National Weather Service expects extreme heat for the next several days with heat index values (feels-like temperature) topping 110° in some areas.

The Corpus Christi Public Works Department will offer residents free pre-filled sandbags at two upcoming events.
