WATER EMERGENCY
At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council approved a resolution authorizing the negotiation of a contract for the Inner Harbor Seawater Desalination Treatment Plant project with Corpus Christi Desal Partners (CCDP), a joint venture with Acciona Agua Corporation and MasTec Industrial Corporation.
The City of Corpus Christi has received a detailed cost proposal from Corpus Christi Desal Partners (CCDP) for the design and construction of the Inner Harbor Desalination Plant, with a preliminary Guaranteed Maximum Price (pGMP) of $978,770,000.
Council approved a contract with FCC Aqualia USA Corp. of Katy, Texas, for the design, procurement, assembly, commissioning, and operation of a containerized brackish water desalination plant at the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant (ONSWTP).
At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council approved Amendment No. 2 to the Master Services Agreement with Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc., and Amendment No.1 to the Construction Manager-At-Risk contract with Garney Companies, Inc. for the Evangeline/San Patricio County Groundwater Program. This approval advances the City’s continued efforts to bring new groundwater supplies online as quickly as possible.
At today’s regularly scheduled City Council, the Council approved a groundwater rights purchase and sale agreement with ERF Real Estate, Inc. for $28 million to support the extension of the Western Well Field and enhance the City’s long-term water supply capacity.
Ahead of the San Patricio County Groundwater Conservation District’s (SPCGCD) public hearing scheduled for February 6, the City of Corpus Christi anticipates the board will take no action to approve or deny drilling and transport permits for the Evangeline Groundwater Project. The City of Sinton, the St. Paul Water Supply Corporation, a Sinton farmer, a Sinton resident, and a Corpus Christi resident have filed permit protests. However, since filing, the Sinton resident has withdrawn their protest.
A cold front will push through late tonight into Friday morning, dropping temperatures to near freezing Friday night. Strong north winds will create hazardous marine conditions through Saturday. The City has protocols in place to ensure proper and safe City services, such as public safety, roads, water and wastewater, and animal care.

At today’s regularly scheduled meeting of the Corpus Christi City Council, the Council approved a Reclaimed Water Supply Agreement with Flint Hills Resources Corpus Christi, LLC, establishing a framework for the beneficial reuse of treated wastewater from the Allison Wastewater Treatment Plant.
