- July 17, 2026: Last day for candidates planning to file for a place on the general election ballot to register to vote or update voter registration.
- October 5, 2026: Last day to register to vote.
- October 19, 2026: First day of early voting by personal appearance
- October 23, 2026: last day to apply for ballot by mail (must be received by Nueces County by this date).
- October 30, 2026: Last day of early voting by personal appearance.
- November 3, 2026: Election day. Last day to receive ballot by mail (see Nueces County Ballot by Mail website for more details). Live results are posted by Nueces County’s Election Department. Visit their website and click the link for Election Night Results.
- November 17, 2026: City Council will canvass the November 3 election results and order a runoff election, if necessary.

The City Secretary is the local official who maintains the integrity of the election process, ensures transparency and access to city records, facilitates the legislative process, and is the recorder of local history. The City Secretary acts as the compliance officer for federal, state, and local statutes, including the Open Meetings Act and the Public Information Act, and serves as the filing authority for campaign finance reports and financial disclosure statements.
