What is the City of Corpus Christi doing to help protect people?
The City of Corpus Christi offers cooling centers when outdoor temperatures are dangerously high. You can find schedules for available cooling centers on this webpage, and advertised on the City's different social media channels. Cooling centers are usually located at public libraries and senior centers. Hours are often extended to provide more relief to those in need.
How can I prevent heat-related illness?
In general, if the indoor temperature is above 90°F, you should seek an air conditioned shelter. You can find many tips on how to stay safe in the summer months on the CDC's website as well as Texas Ready's website. These sites offer detailed information on what you can do at home and when to seek a cooling center.

About Us
The Office of Emergency Management provides information and guidance to the public during an emergency. During an emergency, the Office operates the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) — a central office which allows for face-to-face coordination among personnel who must make emergency decisions. As a division of the Fire Department, the Office also works year-round planning for different emergencies scenarios, and providing the public with resources to help the community Prepare, Respond and Recover from any emergency event.
